Svitlana and Vera from Ukraine have been attending WWV for a number of months and last week I asked them if they could help us in our prayers for Ukraine and what specifically we should be praying for. Sometimes it is hard to even know where to start as the news is so overwhelming. Hearing from them may help us to focus our prayers and both have kindly responded despite it being very hard for them to share their pain and suffering. Please bear in mind that this is through google translate.
Pia and Olly Price have been building close relationships with them and Pia writes:
I think they are both deep in grief, carrying the sorrow of what is happening to their homeland and fearing for friends and family. I know Vera’s nephew was killed recently, leaving a young family fatherless. He was chopping wood for the fire when a cluster bomb killed him. I know, like me, your heart aches to hear about this suffering but prayer is a powerful weapon.
From Vera:
This is the most important thing. End this war in Ukraine, destroy the enemy of the whole world forever. But there was peace throughout the land. So that every country can live in peace, knowing that everything will be fine. So that children and grandchildren are happy. So that countries unite not for war, but for the prosperity of countries. And the only enemy that gives nightmares to the whole world is Russia. But these killers are not alone, they have accomplices. Let them bite each other's throats (let them fight among themselves and leave us alone). Pray that when the war ends, almost all of us will return home, and the men and children will be alive. Many civilians die and they are not guilty of anything.
From Svitlana:
We need to pray that this war will finally end, so that children and innocent people, our soldiers who are now protecting the borders of our country, will no longer die. For ‘A’, he is in great need of prayer for his life and health and that of all his brothers.
Thank you for your prayers and for sharing and understanding how difficult it is for us right now.
Pray: Heavenly Father, hear our prayers for our brothers and sisters in Ukraine. Lord we ask for peace for those who need peace, reconciliation for those who need reconciliation and comfort for all who don't know what tomorrow will bring. Lord may your Kingdom come, and Your will be done.
