What kind of traveller are you?

The spiritual journey is simple yet highly complex and profound. On the one hand, we share our human experiences, yet over time we learn to appreciate that each person's journey is unique. As we think about life's journey, we see that it's full of action, movement, ups, and downs, advances, retreats, change, stops, and starts! Sometimes life feels fun, stimulating, filled with variety and great surprises. At other times it can feel challenging, demanding, traumatic, frightening, ordinary, boring, and dull. Yet one thing we know for sure - it's never static.

We all experience and respond to travel differently! Just cast your mind towards the journeys you have taken so far! Some of us love and embrace the process; others like getting there, arriving or reaching goals and destinations. Many travelers experience ambiguity and delays as stressful and annoying. Others don't and thrive in this environment. Some people like to journey alone, and others prefer to travel with people.

Understanding how we journey can be helpful, and seeing life as more than a trip towards a destination or goal can help us make sense of our experiences along the way. The challenge is to pay attention to these and allow God and others to companion us along the way!
