Welcome to Spiritual Practices & Life Rhythms
At the heart of Christian spirituality is the person of Jesus. As we journey with this historical figure, we see that he invites us into a way of life from which we learn to live and love well. At the core of Jesus' message is an invitation to explore the meaning of life, discover something of God's nature, who we are, and how we can live authentically from that place. This journey is not an event-driven journey but rather a commitment to a way of life centered around God's presence, teachings, and community. It's a lifelong process and pursuit in which we learn to slow down and discover what it means to abide in God, become like Jesus, and live a life that reflects our God-given design and purpose. For us, it is the best place to be.
Ruth Haley Barton writes - “I cannot transform myself, or anyone else for that matter. What I can do is create the conditions in which spiritual transformation can take place, by developing and maintaining a rhythm of spiritual practices that keep me open and available to God.”
Here you will find a number of articles, exercises and people that will help you in your spiritual journey. Some of us may be more familiar with the practices and rhythms of “abiding” in Jesus. Others will be new to the ways of praying, discerning, listening and growing.
We hope that this page will be helpful as you seek to flourish.
Practicing The Way
For a more structured journey or process of learning you may choose to follow “Practicing The Way” designed by John Mark Comer. Practicing the Way is a curriculum or discipleship pathway that will introduce you to some of the bigger picture themes of formation such as living the good life, abiding in, becoming like and following Jesus.
